Meet our founder,
Chris Hamrick, founder of ProTek Crane Solutions, is from Macon, Georgia. A bright student, he graduated from Fort Stewart Military Academy at 16 years old. By 18, Chris was honing his skills with the Carpenters Union, and soon after, he became an ironworker in Sanford, Florida.
Chris's early career was characterized by a strong work ethic along with a commitment to continuous learning. At 26, he ventured into the coal mining industry with Blue Diamond Coal in Hyden, Kentucky. Over his nine-year tenure as an underground coal miner, Chris earned several certifications, including Mine Emergency Technician, which equipped him to respond to mining emergencies, and Industrial Electrician, which proved his adeptness in complex environments.
His mining experience was transformative, instilling in him a deep respect for hard work, creativity, and problem-solving. These years also sparked his entrepreneurial spirit, although family priorities delayed his initial plans. In 2013, seeking better opportunities and education for his children, Chris relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he transitioned to the crane service industry as a field service technician with Konecranes.
Chris's shift from mining to crane services was a pivotal moment. Captivated by the challenge and the impact of his work, he immersed himself in learning everything about cranes and material handling. This dedication led him to establish ProTek Crane Solutions in 2015. Starting in his garage with two technicians, Chris expanded his business into a leading provider of crane services, specializing in performing inspections, repairs and modernization.
Today, Chris continues to lead ProTek, driven by a passion for innovation and excellence in the crane industry. He remains committed to personal growth and industry leadership, regularly engaging in continuing education and contributing to his field through various trade shows and conferences.
Chris is also a devoted family man with three children. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling — pursuits that reflect his love for adventure and the outdoors.
